Anybody else self host stuff??

Post by lemonzest »

Hi

Lemon here, prob know me from the bark matrix chat, was wondering I know luna self hosts some stuff and I also, was wondering if others did so? and if so what??

I currently host:

Luanti (Mineclonia/Voxelibre/VoxelForge)
Minecraft (Better Than Adventure/ReIndev)
Mumble (Voice Chat)
Playit.gg (Tunnel for games)
Cloudflared (Tunnel for Web)
Unreal Tournament 1999
Xonotic Instagib
Immich (Home Image/Video Cloud)
Navidrome (SubSonic Music Server)
MySpeed (Does Regular Internet Speedtests)
Pingvin Share (Image/File Sharing like Imgur)

I would like to host my own Jabbar or Matrix Server but kinda dunno how, smol brain moment

Running this stuff on an older upgraded Dell OptiPlex 9020 SFF with 32GB RAM/Intel Xeon and NVMe SSD Mod :) for its age (its from 2013) its really good still!

heck yeah, nice!!!

at the moment I'm focusing on other things and thus I'm not really self-hosting any further stuff, although I've been still thinking, I want to make art workflow for myself easier also!!

what would be a decent self-hosting solution for quickly sharing stuff without relying on KDE Connect? I have mostly bad experiences with that app by KDE because it barely attempts at recognizing my tablet, gahhhhhh

but yeah :3c

Quickly sharing stuff between devices? Have you looked at LocalSend? I find it useful for sending things between devices like my phone/laptop/desktop its like an Open Source AirDrop

i generally uh, taught myself mostly, and also from people, github and linux wikis,,, but the skill of managing your own personal linux computer translates to managing any linux computer so it should work pretty well for setting up your basic homelab, me meow :3c

I self-host Syncthing, it's a very easy and convenient way to copy some files between several devices. Storage is cheap these days so I sync tons of stuff -- art, music, porn, saved games, and my password vault. And if I need to send a file to myself real quick, I just drop it in the sync folder from one device and then nab it from there on the other one.

do any of y'all know if there's something like plex but for pdfs available on phone and pc?

and by like plex i mean:
*doesn't download things to my phone
*is viewable in the same app
*actually displays it correctly(just tried calibre and it stretched all the images for whatever fucking reason)

probably unrelated but might be slightly related, idk posting and hoping for the best

I FOUND A THING THAT DOES THIS!

its this thing called jellyfin which is like plex but better cause it can transfer and view pdfs in the app without downloading, with a download option
And it actually displays pdf properly too, doesn't stretch the image(s), has you scroll through page to page instead of displaying as a long image, its exactly what i was looking for
